The starting point

Four systems. Four technologies. Four release paths.

Buyback, warehouse operations, the web frontend and new-book procurement had grown separately. Every change had to be developed and released in several places.

The critical point: pricing

In re-commerce, pricing determines success twice.

The buyback price decides whether a private seller sends in the goods. The sales price determines whether the offer is found and purchased. Both change daily. In the old system, every adjustment required a code change and another release.

The solution

One stack, two pricing engines and operational control without code changes.

We rebuilt the system on a single technology stack and migrated more than 17 million records. One engine calculates buyback offers from market prices, sales rank, condition and storage costs. The other calculates sales prices using cost floors, condition comparisons and competitor positions.

Rules managed by operations

Margins, price bands, limits and blocklists are managed through an interface with a preview.

Event-driven repricing

Marketplace signals trigger recalculation of affected products, while the full range is reviewed every ten minutes.

Reliable integrations

ERP, marketplace, shipping, supplier and price comparison sites communicate through queues with automatic retries.

Measured results

Faster decisions, current prices and a system the business can operate.
